Unpacking my suitcase this week, I found a sweet love note from my 9-year-old niece. “Auntie Leelee (yes, it’s my nickname) you are a Princess AND a Super Hero.” I just busted out in laughter at how cute the note was and how much it touched me. Then it got spiritual, the Holy Spirit whispered, “When do women grow up and stop believing who they truly are?”.
You are altogether beautiful, my darling;there is no flaw in you.” – Song of songs 4:7
God has created us to be Princesses of the King and Super Heroes of the Faith. Sadly, somewhere along the path of disappointment and rejection, insecurity settles in. We start believing that we are not worthy. The world tells us we are not enough. God tells us differently and His love letter, the word of God, is always true.
Identity in Christ
This only becomes a reality when we believe it. The need to silence all other voices to where he is the loudest is key. Believing in our hearts, captivating our thoughts and walking in humble confidence daily. Humble meaning, we aren’t haughty or unaware that everything good in us is due to Him. Confident in who He says you are, not who you or others believe you are.
I’ve always admired affirmation, it’s my love language and I’ve always been a confident, strong woman. Similar traits run in my family, which is made of strong women. Along with that confidence came much pride and an independent spirit. Everything changed the day I truly surrendered my heart to God and he humbled me in the sweetest way.
He stripped me of that need for affirmation from others and fear of man. He restored my identity and gave me the humble confidence in who he says I am. Living a life where I desire approval from Him and no one else. He showed me that everything great in me is only great because he designed me that way. He made me creative and faithful. It’s not because “I was raised that way”. He designed us for His glory in our mother’s womb, when we could take no credit.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.” – Jeremiah 1:5
I pray that you will come to the feet of our sweet Jesus and let Him heal you if you have been wounded and defined by others. Let Him restore your identity so you can walk with confidence in Christ. Or if you have a haughty spirit where you give yourself credit for who you are, humble yourself, repent and ask Him to work on your heart. Let us walk whole, healed and set free. Let us live as Princesses of the King and Super Heroes of the Faith because with Him nothing is impossible!
Oh and a few days after my niece gave me that sweet love note, I led her to Jesus. Oh happy day!

After you called out that this is my love language too, I realize how true this is. Like Jackie says His word is the sounding anchor of our souls. Love this blog.
Thank you for your faithfulness in this season. I treasure YOU. Thank you!

I feel you! Words of affirmation is part of my love language. I feel that as I dive in to the scriptures He constantly affirms His love towards me. I’m in the process of letting go of the “need” of mans approval and I know that I have come a long way! Great read!
