RELATABLE JESUS

June 21, 2017 · 1 Comment

Is it just me or do you have a grand idea of God I think of Him in all His glory, on the throne, surrounded by angels worshipping Him 24/7. As if he is in heaven and I’m on earth, unreachable. Even in my most intimate moments with Him, it’s hard to see Him as once human. However, he was just as us, tempted, lonely and overwhelmed.

I think that is such a beautiful thing. That yes, he is beyond our comprehension, highly majestic, but he also spent time as a human. He has walked the same walk we walk. He’s had friends betray Him. He’s cried tears of sadness. He was obedient to His father. He was tempted.

For this reason Jesus had to be made like us,fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he Himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” – Hebrews 2:17-18

He cries when we cry and hurts when we hurt. He’s pleased when we are happy. He loves deeply. All because he has been there. He knows what we are going through and he is relatable.

Oh How He Loves Us

He is not a distant God, high in the clouds, charging us around. He is a great, great father that has our best in mind. Even His discipline is due to His great love and plan for us. He is our King and our relatable comforter all at once. That is why he desires us to have a child-like faith because children see Him as he truly is. I am amazed watching Him move in my every detail, even in things that might be considered small, he sees them as great because he sees us as great. Oh, how he loves us.

Let’s pray:

“Thank you Jesus for your constant attention to detail in my life. I love knowing that you have experienced the same as I have and you are relatable. You really do know what I go through and have been there yourself. I worship you for who you are. You truly are our best friend. Amen.”

We are so blessed I can’t even fathom how huge that is. For now I just take it one day at a time as I get to know God on a deeper and deeper level. I am loved and it’s still sinking in.
