THE BIGGER PICTURE

April 19, 2017 · 1 Comment

Sometimes as a wedding Photographer, I have a vision I want to play out, and the couple doesn’t initially get it. They start to feel a bit uncomfortable. It isn’t until I finish, then show them on my camera the creative shot, that I hear the “wows”. The same is with God. He sees the bigger picture. Our beginning to the end planned out, we just need to trust Him.

As I was reading how Jesus healed the man born blind in John 9, the Holy Spirit began to reveal His ways to me. We as humans automatically assume that all bad, discomfort and pain come straight from the enemy. We pray against it, we fight it, we just don’t understand the bigger picture.

However, you see the Rabbi here asks Jesus,

“Who sinned, this man or His parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus responds, “Neither this man nor His parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in His life.” –John 9:3

His Glory

God is all about His glory, make no mistake. He works ALL things out for your good and His glory. Just two chapters later, he once again, in the death of Lazarus seeks glory. Lazarus was sick and His sister tells Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” When he heard this, Jesus replies,

This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s son may be glorified through it.” –John 11

And this is the “one Jesus loves”. The only time Jesus wept was concerning Lazarus. His quest for glory and His great love for us go hand in hand.

God ways are bigger than our ways

Not only did this happen in history but I can testify since the same scenario is playing out in my life today. I continually watch God “set things up”, uncomfortable, painful situations, just to watch His glory play out. Is it worth it Yes!

When you gain His perspective and allow Him to use you as He wills, anything can happen. It leads to people coming to Christ, the lost find hope and broken hearts are healed. It’s then that he begins to trust you to lead others into their destiny, knowing you are truly surrendered. What a life worth living.

Remembering that he loves us so much that he was tortured on that cross for our sins, will wipe away any doubt that he’s out to get us. Instead, he’s out to redeem us.
