The Importance of a Healthy Prayer Life

October 9, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Often believers will stop to pray once they have exhausted themselves and have no other way to solve a challenge. This is often one of the reasons why there are so many frustrated, depressed and unhappy people in the church. God wants you to know the importance of having a healthy prayer life.

You have probably heard that there is power in prayer and that prayer changes things. Well, I can tell you from experience that it’s true. The best room in your house in your prayer closet. When you press in and pray you will see miracles happen that man cannot accomplish. God always out performs man.

God should be the very first one that we approach when we have a need, instead of a last ditch effort. I have seen the power of prayer instantly heal the sick, mend broken relationships, restore finances and bring peace of mind. We serve a miracle working God. But God doesn’t want us to approach him just because we have a need. More than anything, he desires a close relationship with us. He wants us, his children, to choose to spend time with him simply because we love and adore him.

Covenant Prayer

My church has been meeting together once a month for a 12 hour covenant prayer time with no phone access. We meet up at 9am and end at 9pm. It’s not a social gathering, it’s a time of pressing in and praying with intention. More than 45 people have showed up on a holiday or a Saturday. They wouldn’t sacrifice their time if it didn’t work. I have been to 6 of these powerful gatherings and every time something significant shifts in my life.

Every time I remove distractions, get into my secret place and spend time with the Lord, I am filled with peace, joy and clarity. Time in worship, thanksgiving and prayer is the best spent time. When we don’t make the time, we leave ourselves vulnerable to operate in the flesh which gives the enemy access to our emotions and our lives. There is a reason why the word of God tells us to keep fitted with the Armor of God.

Distractions

We are constantly being bombarded with distractions. I say, the devil doesn’t need to lie to you and try to convince you that God doesn’t exist, he just needs to keep you distracted next thing you know, you’re living like he doesn’t exist. Distractions are keeping believers from fulfilling their purpose in a time when we need kingdom warriors.

prayer-life

I encourage you to fight back distractions and instead of worry, anxiety and fear, turn it all off and press into prayer, worship and thanksgiving. You will be glad you did!

Stay Encouraged, Leah
