You may ask yourself, why is today called “good” Friday? It’s the day our Savior suffered and died for us. It’s a somber day. A day we reflect and give gratitude for the gift that we can never repay. It’s like saying it’s good when we are tormented or go through pain. But what really makes it good? It’s not what He went through on that horrible day but for the great outcome and purpose of it all. The promise in the aftermath of the pain.
We can celebrate on Good Friday because of Christ’s sacrifice gave us salvation. So that we could receive the gift of eternal life and true forgiveness. What was meant for evil, God meant for good!
Just like in our own lives when we go through pain. It seems to have no purpose at first, but God uses it all for His glory and our greater purpose. Amen!
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for us sinners. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:6-10
One of my top favorite faith movies of all time is still The Passion. I try and watch it every year just to keep a fresh remembrance of what my Jesus really went through for us and how great His love was then and is today.
Jesus bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed. – 1 Peter 2:24
REFLECT AND GIVE THANKS
I encourage you to take some time today in silence. Reflect on the powerful sacrifice our Lord made for us and how our lives are forever changed.
