It’s already the last day of January, where does the time go? It’s such a reminder that life is too short to stay bound. Isn’t it such a relief to know that we have the answer to life’s problems. People disappoint but God never does. People walk out but God never does. Life may hurt but God never does. We live in an imperfect world but we serve a perfect Savior.
Our immediate reaction to negativity is usually to complain. Yet Jesus tells us the best way to attack the spirit of heaviness and oppression is to praise.
Praise
Yes, Praise Him. It is mandatory. In times and places of darkness, we must open our mouths and praise Him. What we feel like doesn’t matter, for it’s not about our changing circumstances but about an all-glorious God. Praise sustains us because it reminds us and the circling demons of hell that God rules and He wins.
Praise paired with being saturated in His word makes us unstoppable and fierce. Not to be reckoned with.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise-in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” –Psalm 56:3-5
I am reminded of a time where I used to let the enemy have a hay day on my thought life. Bringing up hurtful past situations and getting me angry all over again.
Everything changed the day I learned to immediately captivate my thoughts. I wrote a similar post called Fight Back a couple of years ago. Now when I began to think anything negative the Holy Spirit quickly reminds me to take every thought captive. This will change your life, friends.
I know it’s not always easy when you feel directly attacked or offended but the more you make it a lifestyle choice the easier it becomes. The one verse that I literally put my hands on my mind, speak out, and declare every morning without fail is 2 Corinthians 10:5.
It has become my life verse and my weapon against the enemy’s schemes. We must keep our minds free of any lies or distractions in order to hear God speak. We must have an uncluttered heart.
I demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,and I take captive every thought to make it obedientto Christ.” –2 Corinthians 10:5
Praise Him, dive into His word, and captivate your thoughts in every circumstance.
Let’s pray
“Lord, thank you for your faithfulness and your perfect ways. Please forgive me for holding onto any offense. I will choose to praise you and captivate my thoughts. Holy Spirit constantly remind me to choose truth over lies. Amen.”
