We all make foolish moves, mistakes we wish we could do-over. The word wisdom commonly defines someone older, gray-haired and that has learned from their mistakes. Yet, the bible says to desire wisdom and your days will go good for you. In the story of King Solomon, David’s son, God approached Him and offered Him “anything he wanted and it would be done.”
He could have chosen a wife, riches, fame, long life or just about anything. Yet the only thing he requested was Wisdom. God was impressed. He tells the young king that because you chose wisdom over earthly goods, I will give you all of the perks of this world, along with wisdom. You see Solomon desired the greater thing. It’s the same desire we need to have.
Proverbs says to “love wisdom, though it cost you everything, chase it down. Seek it. Go after it as most important.” With wisdom comes a renewed mind. Wisdom helps you prevent bad choices. It protects you from harm. Also wisdom clears up the confusion. It guides you on the right path. Wisdom helps you choose the right people, choices and words. Wisdom gives you peace.
Ask God for wisdom, for he who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5
So let’s do that. Let us pray for wisdom:
“Lord, thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for your faithfulness. Please forgive me for pride and past foolish choices. I want to make choices that honor you. I need you and your perspective. Give me wisdom and understanding. Transform my mind and give me understanding to know and follow in your perfect ways. I love you Jesus. Amen.”
