We’ve all done it. We talk to someone about a challenge or life situation and then run with their input, putting it into action. They might even be someone we love or respect. Sometimes we end up regretting it and it is why we need wisdom. It is very important that we stop listening to secular people for godly advice.
Who’s opinion are you listening too
Everybody has something to say and it’s up to us to be wise with who we listen too. More importantly, making sure the Holy Spirit confirms what is told to us. Even if I respect your opinion I won’t make an important move unless I get confirmation.
I’m not going to listen to a family member who has an opinion on my love life if they are not actively pursuing God. Just like I’m not going to overshare my weaknesses with someone that has no faith. This can get you in big trouble and can discourage you. God has called us to be wise.
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” -James 1:5
When I started asking God for wisdom it really prevented a lot of could be mistakes and possible regrets. I’ve been able to graciously listen to what others offer but wise enough to know what to do with the information. Wisdom is a beautiful thing. Proverbs is full of nuggets. I encourage you to dive in and read His word daily.
Blessed is the one who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly.” – Psalm 1:1
Let’s Pray:
“Lord, help us to have greater discernment when dealing with others. Be quick to alert me when needed. Give me the wisdom I need that only you can give. You are my wise counsel and I won’t make a move unless you tell me too. Amen.”
