First off, happy fathers day to all you dads out there! You sacrifice so much and are appreciated. I want to honor my Papa Bear as I call Him. My father is not perfect but he showed us how important it is to live morally and full of integrity. Not living by the world’s standards but according to the uncompromising word of God. He has not wavered throughout culture changes growing up and even to this day.
However, so many didn’t grow up with godly fathers while some didn’t have a man in the house at all. And so I write this for you. Whether you had a good dad, bad dad or no dad, there has been the perfect father watching over you.
God is a father to the fatherless.” –psalm 68:5
When our earthly father disappoints, rejects or abandons us, it can hurt. But the more you look to Jesus as the only perfect love in your life, then it helps you understand and give grace to others. Your daddy was once young and also raised by a father. He might of brought you up while battling addiction, full of anger or abuse because that is all he knew. That was all His dad taught Him.
That’s why it is so important to break off generational curses and strongholds that may of been part of your linage for centuries. There is hope. You must however take a stand and be very intentional. As if saying, The buck stops here. I will not raise my children the same. God has to heal and change you first, then you can be a different father because He will make you a different man.
Redeeming Father
I know for my dad, he was raised by a godless, angry and alcoholic father. He, however, got radically saved at 19 yrs old, and God changed Him. Having His family disown Him for becoming a Christian and he is still the only saved one to this day. Thankfully in recent years, His sisters have been reconnecting with Him. He has been able to be the light of hope to a family without hope. Jesus changes everything.
