COME TO ME

We tend to turn to many things when we are weary or burdened. It’s our nature to comfort or distract ourselves. Whether it’s food, tv, social media, friends, shopping there are many ways we can seek temporary escape.

Yet, there is the Lord’s remedy and perfect cure and only he provides that permanent relief. In His word, he tells us to come to Him when we are weary or feeling heaviness. He alone will give us rest and is gentle and humble. He satisfies our souls. Jesus says,

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

His presence preserves us

Time spent in His presence not only strengthens us, but it teaches us His ways. He is always speaking, encouraging, uplifting, releasing, and removing that sense of heaviness. He reassures us that he has the answer we need. There is no better alternative.

The Holy Spirit has reminded me of this verse many times in this season of waiting on Him. Come to me Leah, I have the rest you need. My joy will be your strength. I will give you a fresh perspective. What a beautiful promise that no one else and nothing else can ever offer.

I encourage you to sit at His feet and glean from Him. Let Jesus give you rest for your souls, peace, and sweet revelation. He is always available. Always prepared and waiting for us to choose Him.

From my own experience, we must press in. I have dealt with the enemy and His attempt to keep me temporarily busy spending my time on what does not satisfy. You must intentionally fight for your freedom.

Let us Pray:

“Lord, you are my only option. I pray that you remind me daily to turn to you in all circumstances. Tug on my heart, call me to sweet time with you. Reveal your love and character to me in a deeper way. Amen.”
