Jesus disciples asked Him, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” What He said next would take many by surprise. He called forth a little child.
Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the humble position of a child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” -Matthew 18
Jesus says that we must become like a child, it’s not an option.
The Holy Spirit began to reveal to me the importance of becoming childlike in order to walk in our purpose and access God’s heart.
To go before God as a child is to go before God stripped of our sins and doubts, full of wide-eyed inspiration that comes from total faith. Going before God as a child is to expect awe-inspiring greatness.
Is God going to be there when I need Him? A child would say Yes! without hesitation.
You see children are not jaded or skeptical. They easily trust, believe, and hope for the best. In addition, they have great faith. They are meek and humble. Nor do they worry about the future. It’s what God requires of us.
God seeks childlike submissiveness and meekness, a gleeful childlike heart and a childlike faith. Faith builds character, and the process starts when you are a child. Without faith, we cannot please God.
And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek Him. –Hebrews 11:6
We as adults have a tendency to become cynical with age, while a child has yet to be touched by the concerns of the world. Children don’t have adult hurdles in their race with God.
Let’s pray
“Lord, please cultivate a child-like faith in me. Restore my trust, faith and joy. I want to see you as a child. I want to witness your wonders. Amen.”
