I’ve never been a morning person, yet this morning routine has changed my life. How do you start off your morning? What is the very first thing you do?
I challenge you the moment you wake, while still in bed, before your feet hit the floor, to verbally thank God for the day ahead. No matter what season you are in. Starting your day right by thanking Him for who he is setting a critical tone for the day.
Every one of us has a morning routine, I for one love a good cup of coffee first thing. But even before my coffee, before I grab my phone to check on texts, emails and social media, I wake up with, Good Morning Jesus.
Right Attitude
Then I continue to thank Him for who He is. Not if prayers are answered or if my life seems in order, but in all seasons, I give Him thanks.
It might sound something like this, “Thank you Lord for your faithfulness, for your mercies that are new every morning, for your protection, provision, favor, kindness” the list goes on. This is what keeps me joyful in the storm, grateful in the wait and confident in the confusion.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!” – Psalm 100:4
Starting your day by immediately giving thanks for who God is will change your atmosphere, your attitude towards others and turn negative realities into positive outcomes. However, starting your day off in a bad mood because we went to bed with unresolved hurt, or complaining sets up our day to be more of the same.
Living with a grateful heart paired with speaking words of life, not only changes our heart, our perspective but they actually change our situations. This is not living in denial but instead giving God all and recognizing that He is worthy for who He is not what He can do.
Starting your day by immediately giving thanks for who God is will change your atmosphere, your attitude towards others and turn negative realities into positive outcomes.”
Let us pray
“Lord please forgive me for complaining and having any wrong attitude. Give me your perspective and change my heart. Remind me to wake up giving you thanks every day for your unchanging character and unconditional love. Amen.”
