If you want to know the core of a person, you must be a fruit inspector. God tells us that “no good tree bears bad fruit.” The good person brings out of the good stored in their heart. We must have discernment and know how to recognize the fruit in others. Now there is a difference between being judgemental and being fruit inspectors.
Judgemental vs. Fruit Inspectors
Growing up in a strict Christian home, I would judge others. I was raised to believe that almost everything was a sin and that caused a root of pride. I wasn’t as vocal about how I felt but my heart was judgemental. It wasn’t a heart of compassion for others which is what God calls us to have.
Several years ago, I allowed the Lord to uproot pride and all the ugly branches that are connected to it. That doesn’t mean that now I walk around tolerant of everything. What it means is I can now be a fruit inspector with a heart that’s in the right place.
You don’t get wormy apples off a healthy tree, nor good apples off a diseased tree. The health of the apple tells the health of the tree. You must begin with your own life-giving lives. It’s who you are, not what you say and do, that counts. Your true being brims over into true words and deeds. For out of the overflow of your heart your mouth speaks.” -Luke 6:43-45
A fruit inspector is wise when it comes to who they connect with. They know who they should tie themselves too and who to invest in. The fruit in others can either nourish you or poison you. Allow the Holy Spirit to show you and take off any blinders that would prevent you from clear vision. Our fruit must also be healthy.
Let’s Pray:
“Lord, help me be a fruit inspector without being judgemental. Give me a pure heart, clear vision and discernment to know who I should connect to. I also want to be a healthy tree that bears much good fruit. Amen.”
