Happy New Year friends! Season 6 of the Lens of Faith podcast is coming in hot. The Lord put an on time word on my heart to share with you today, Pursuing Holiness.

When was the last time our churches had a conversation about holiness? Holiness is not a church buzz word, but it should be. We have stopped focusing on integrity of character so we can be relevant to the culture. Yet, God calls us to pursue holiness which is becoming who you are made to be in Christ.

Holiness is not wearing long skirts, no makeup or cutting out fun. Holiness is not acting with a self righteous religious spirit. Instead it’s a call to transform our life out of a love relationship with God.

Set Apart

God calls us to be set apart meaning we aren’t supposed to live like the world. The world feeds the flesh and chases after temporary successes. We aren’t to watch, listen, think or speak the same things as the world. We are to allow the Holy Spirits quick conviction to rule our lives. When it does, we are to be quick to stop what we are doing, repent and get right. Compromising separates us from a right relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. This relationship should be everything to us.

I am speaking in human terms, because you are weak in your natural self. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and everything else, so now offer yourself in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.” -Romans 6:19
