Here’s hoping you had the best Mothers Day weekend by either celebrating that special mama or remembering her.
The older I get, the more amazed I am by the unconditional sacrifice of a mother. That is probably why I used to shout out and joke about not wanting to have kids. As the oldest of 8, I watched my mama give her entire life to motherhood. Even now she is always with one of her grandchildren.
Yet, instead of the distaste at the thought of giving up my life, I see what a great honor and privilege it is. You have the power to mold a child into something great for the kingdom of God.
Now not every mother was raised in a good home, but she’s most likely giving it her best. God is full of grace and when we seek Him He gives us the help we need for the journey ahead. In every stage of life, with every challenge and in every season, He is our great partner.
They will not forget
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” –Proverbs 22:6
He gives us wisdom when we are without, patience in chaos, joy in the storms and He works it all out for us, for Him and our legacy.
Most of my great friends are mothers and they have shown me what that beautiful sacrifice looks like. By devoting themselves and all their energy to raising the next generation. So we honor all you mamas out there who get up early and go to bed late for the sake of your family. You are loved.
I feel the key to not feeling burnt out and reflecting Jesus to your children is to make time to let Him fill you up. He is our source that never runs dry.
