Hey, friends happy October, my fav month of the year! The pumpkin obsession begins, with the falling of leaves, changing of colors, and the crisp cool breeze. As I sit here reflecting on the change of season, I can’t help but smile on the God who is unchanging in and out of seasons.
Have you ever stopped to meditate on how much Jesus really loves us? If you grew up in the church, singing songs as Jesus loves me, this fact can become common knowledge and lose its power in our hearts. So I challenge you to meditate on Isaiah 53. Let Him reveal just how deep His love for us really is.
No Greater Love
Jesus was looked down on and passed over, a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand. One look at Him and people turned away. We looked down on Him, thought he was scum. But the fact is, it was our pains he carried our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on Himself, that God was punishing Him for His own failures. But it was our sins that did that to Him, that ripped and tore and crushed Him. He took the punishment, and that made us whole. Through His bruises we get healed.
Were all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost. We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything weve done wrong, on Him, on Him.”
Oh what love.
Therefore I’ll reward Him extravagantly the best of everything, the highest honors. Because he looked death in the face and didn’t flinch, because he embraced the company of the lowest. He took on His own shoulders the sin of the many, he took up the cause of all the black sheep.” -Isaiah 53
I live every day just so grateful for this love. Thanking Jesus for who He is. If He never answers another prayer or gives me another dose of favor, He did enough on that cross and deserves my life and my adoration.
Let’s Praise
“Thank you, Jesus, for your great sacrifice and love for us. Reveal deep in my heart how much you love me so I may reflect this love to others. Amen.”
