Happy Easter week! What a joyful reminder of Jesus’ great sacrifice and promise fulfilled just for us. His love is incomparable and matchless. Just yesterday, I was watching one of my favorite films ever, The Passion of the Christ.
This amazing film wrecks me every time. Also, it’s almost unbearable to watch the torture of my best friend. Being the very visual person I am, my heart is captivated in a way like no other in this life-like depiction.
When I want to give up on my current challenging journey, I’m reminded of what Jesus did for His father. He also wanted to give up. He cried out, “Father if it’s your will then take this burden from me. Yet, not my will but yours be done.”
He chose us
He was willing and obedient every step of the way, when He could have quit at any moment. But where would we be if Jesus threw in the towel? He chose us even knowing that many would not choose Him. If He left the grave, so will I.
He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishmentthat brought us peace was on Him, by His wounds we are healed. We have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” – Isaiah 53
He came through on His promise to come back after 3 days and make all things new. Many doubted, many walked away, even His disciples could not understand. He was the God of His promise then and He still is today. He watches over every word He speaks to perform it.
Let us live victoriously and without defeat knowing that the same resurrection spirit lives in us. May we also reflect this week with overwhelming gratitude for His great sacrifice and hope in the God that still lives and keeps His word.
Easter is not to focus on bunnies, eggs or candy but instead Jesus, the one who rose from the tomb. He still resurrects dead things.
