I forgive him the power of forgiveness and love

September 22, 2025 · 1 Comment

Millions across the world watched the 8 hour Charlie Kirk Memorial. This wasn’t your typical service, this was a REVIVAL. Throughout the day, only God was glorified and every speaker shared what mattered most to Charlie: Jesus Christ. The most powerful moment was towards the end when Erika Kirk came on stage and said, “I forgive him.”

Forgiveness is Jesus behavior

Jesus calls us to not only forgive our enemies but to bless those that reject us. We can not do this apart from Christ. Just as it took God’s grace for Jesus to give his life for our sins by being nailed to a cross. He forgave so that we would also forgive. He loved his enemies so that we would love our enemies.

I compiled my favorite moments from the 8 hour memorial and made a 29 minute video for you to watch.

Watch my favorite moments here:

Key Aspects of Matthew 5:44

Love Your Enemies: This directive calls for a benevolent attitude and kind actions toward those who are hostile, rather than reciprocation of hatred.
Pray for Persecutors: You are instructed to pray for those who persecute you, meaning those who cause you suffering or oppose your beliefs.
Divine Example: The verse is often explained by pointing to God’s own impartial nature, as God makes the sun rise and rain fall on both the righteous and the wicked.
Revolutionary Teaching: Jesus’ teaching on loving enemies was a radical concept at the time, challenging the prevailing norms of retaliation and revenge.

Religion vs. Relationship with Jesus

Religion says, “I can’t forgive my haters.” But Relationship says, “Jesus forgave his killers so I can too.” The more Christ like you become, the more he gives you his heart. Forgiveness is not logical. It’s supernatural. Jesus forgave his haters, betrayers and his killers. So you can too.

Keep Forgiving, Leah
