As Christians, living in this crazy world, we take a sigh of relief knowing it’s not all there is. All might seem overwhelming here on earth but we have that promise of our next journey.
It’s the better and eternal life with no sorrow or pain. A paradise filled with streets of gold, mansions, and maybe even our favorite pet will greet us at the pearly gates. The place called Heaven.
Even though this is true, this should not be the reason we hold onto our faith. Really, it should be at the back of our minds. We are on this earth for such a time as this and God has magnificent plans that He designed you for.
Many times I hear Christians complain and say things such as, “Just can’t wait to get to heaven when it will be different.” There is so much talk of the afterlife instead of focusing on the here and now. God didn’t create us to just say the prayer of salvation, live a “good” life, die, and go to heaven.
Take heaven out of the equation. If we were never promised that perfect place with Jesus. Would you still live sold out and devoted to Him?
Jesus rescued me when I was lost. He healed me when I was sick. He’s my Provider and Protector. My Forgiver and my Peace. He’s my husband and my best friend. Jesus is my father and my savior. He is all this and more.
For we are Gods handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” -Ephesians 2:10
Let’s Pray
“Lord, show me what my purpose is on this earth and to draw close to you now. To finish my assignment well. To live my life as if it were all there is. Give me new perspective. Amen.”
