Happy Valentine’s friends! This is the one day a year that our calendar tells us to step it up in the love department. There is that pressure to celebrate our loved ones, more than the norm. Expectations such as flowers, chocolate, cards and expensive night out.
When they are not met we may feel unloved or uncelebrated. If you are single, then you are wishing you had that special someone. Well, I have great news. You do.
Jesus is truly our forever Valentine. His love never fails. He always steps it up. Always goes over and beyond. He showers us with affirmation. He’s attentive to our every detail and He surprises us constantly. He’s the perfect lover.
We know the famous love chapter in the bible 1 Corinthians 13, that we often hear at weddings. However, no human can meet the requirement of what true love is. Only with becoming like Jesus can we begin to show these signs of love toward others.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” – 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
My favorite passage in this chapter is, “When the perfect comes, the imperfect disappears.” verse 10. Meaning only God is perfect. Only He can satisfy our hearts. His love alone is unfailing. The more we become like Him, the more the imperfect within us disappears.
Let us praise Him:
“Thank you, Jesus for your perfect love. You are the greatest gift that keeps on giving. May today be another reminder of your great love for me. Be my valentine in a way no other can. Satisfy every desire within me. Amen.”
Now go eat chocolate.
