If you’re like me, you don’t like to wait. For anything. Being independent has always meant, if I want something, I get it done.
I remember one day years ago, after listening to sermons on the musts in a believer’s life, I boldly prayed for patience. I know scary, right I thought at the time, that God would just instantly zap me and make me patient. The idea was beautiful. Little did I know. Almost instantly, the wait began. Standing in line for coffee, waiting for a friend to show up, you name it. Then it hit me, “why did I pray that!” The Lord showed me that I need patience in order to live with grace, peace and reliance on Him.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. No one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” – Ecc. 3:11
I know how difficult it is to wait. Waiting doesn’t come naturally. We live in a tap-and-go culture. Waiting these days looks foolish. We expect a microwave God, when in fact he is a crockpot God. I know that the simmering process takes time, but it’s so worth the wait. To us, waiting is wasting. To God, waiting is working.
Trusting
I believe it’s more than impatience, it’s a trust issue. We subconsciously think that we know what’s right. Waiting on our perfect creator means handing Him over the reigns and giving Him complete control. But what a trade. True peace comes from that great release! I have found out there is no better way to live.
To us, waiting is wasting. To God, waiting is working.”
Let us live a life of faith and trust in His perfect plan. After all, only he knows our timeline, our beginning to our end. His timing always has a great purpose, let us trust the one who never disappoints.
