I know, I know, so many of us hate waiting. For anything these days. We live in a culture of instant gratification. While technology is great, it has us living in a world of touch and go. God is not a touch and go God. In fact, he’s just the opposite.
Many look at the wait as the “wilderness” season. It’s in negative context, just waiting for it all to pass. However, the wilderness should be the richest time of our lives and it is intentional for God to get your undivided attention. It’s there that he restores and aligns your heart. It’s in the wait that he strengthens our character. Where he cultivates intimacy and dependency on him alone. He’s after our heart. Our obedience. Our attitude. If your waiting on him to fulfill promises in your life, he could very well be waiting on You.
The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. -Lam. 3:25
Ouch, that hurts!
A few years ago, I watched this woman trim her roses. I was surprised when she cut not only the dead branches but all the way to the ground. I remember thinking, “that stump is going to die, why would she cut the green, she cut to far back”. A few months later, those same bushes were more beautiful then before! Vibrant and full of bloom. Then the holy spirit spoke to me, “That’s what I’m doing in your life. I’m doing a new thing.” Now you must understand pruning is uncomfortable. Cutting hurts. Many give up because the process is too hard. I’m here to encourage you to press in and Don’t Give Up. Our perfect father is the great Gardner. He is cutting off what’s necessary, watering with his love and replacing old soil with new life changing miracle grow. John 15:2
Jesus is in the waiting.
He is after our heart. Everything changed for me when I started praying for “His perspective” in a long valley of wait in my life. He started to show me his greater purposes. Remember, “God’s timing is perfect” and “His ways are not our ways.” His ways are better. I have never had such peace as I do now in the hardest season of my life. For a willing heart undivided is what he’s waiting on. God is interested in the journey, not the destination and he’s not on our clock. Where as we live in a microwave generation, God is a like a crockpot. It takes much longer, sometimes overnight but it tastes so much better and it’s worth the wait! Wait well and surrender to His perfect ways.
Don’t lose heart loved ones. I’m praying for you. Stay planted in the beautiful hand of our Gardener.
